"One-Third" Faculty Structure

The institute combines a "one-third" faculty structure with the Triple Mentorship system. The first cohort plans to recruit 20 core full-time faculty.

1/3 Academic Faculty

From Leading Universities

Responsible for foundational theory and frontier research. Full-time faculty in AI, vehicle engineering, computing, and related fields with strong scholarly and research capability.

1/3 Industry Expert Faculty

From OEMs, Tier 1s, and Tech Companies

Lead core major courses and project guidance. Senior engineers from Geely Research Institute's autonomous driving division, vehicle institute, testing centers, and more.

1/3 Senior Engineers / Researchers

Technical Backbone

Responsible for lab development, practice teaching, and technical support—covering perception, decision, control, testing, system integration, and mass-production development.

Triple Mentorship in Detail

A mentor-group accountability model: every 3–5 students share one academic mentor + one industry mentor + one AI mentor as a dedicated practice mentor group.

Academic Mentor (On-campus Faculty)

  • Build practice teaching theory frameworks and course practice plans
  • Guide students in mathematical foundations, algorithm principles, and system architecture for autonomous driving
  • Supervise academic research, thesis writing, and patent filings
  • Cultivate scholarly thinking and innovative research capability
  • Collaborate with industry mentors on project goals and technical roadmaps

Industry Mentor (Geely Engineers / Partner Experts)

  • Provide real Geely Research Institute projects, industry standards, engineering workflows, and testing norms
  • Guide students through requirements analysis, solution design, development, debugging, and test validation
  • Share hands-on skills, mass-production experience, and problem-solving methods
  • Connect students with real engineering scenarios and industry role requirements
  • Participate in practice evaluation and project defenses from an industry perspective

AI Mentor (Xinwei Mixian Agent)

  • Build autonomous driving simulation platforms and project training knowledge bases
  • Provide 24/7 Q&A, operational guidance, and simulation testing support
  • Analyze practice data and competency gaps
  • Push personalized training content, project tasks, and learning resources
  • Assist with project management, progress tracking, and outcome assessment

Mentor Collaboration Mechanisms

  • Regular "Triple Mentor Joint Meetings" to sync practice progress, solve project challenges, and refine teaching plans
  • Inter-mentor platforms enabling academic mentors to take temporary posts at Geely Research Institute
  • Industry mentors contribute to curriculum development, mutually strengthening practice teaching capacity
  • Students select mentor groups via a research rotation system near the end of Year 2
